World Renowned Operas & Concerts Go Digital

Let’s all relax, take a deep breath, and let the music sooth our soul. Some of the world’s most renowned preforming arts organizations, including LA Opera, LA Phil, The Metropolitan Opera, Berlin Philharmonie, and Vienna State Opera are offering free live streaming and access to their digital archives. In the spirit of inspiration and healing through music, these groups are throwing open their virtual doors and sharing their treasures with the world. LA Phil At Home With John Adams

Building on the success of At Home With Gustavo, At Home With John Adams features the LA Phil’s closest friends and collaborators sharing recordings, personal stories, and insight into the music. Each At Home With episode presents the guest’s curated musical selections along with their personal reflections on the music and their experience of our current environment. LA Opera@Home

Opera is bigger than just a stage – so LA Opera is bringing it directly into your home. They’re offering a series of opportunities to help you enjoy all kinds of opera from the comfort of your couch  regardless of your previous experience or knowledge of opera. Whether it’s live Living Room Recitals, broadcasts of old performances, or how-to’s with some of your favorite artists, there are a multitude of ways you can enjoy LA Opera@Home.

Berlin Philharmonie Digital Concert Hall

The Berlin Philharmonie is closed for now, so they will come to you! The Digital Concert Hall is now free for everyone and the best seat in the house is reserved just for you. In the free playlist, Kirill Petrenko conducts works including Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony and Peter Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique. The Berlin Philharmonie has been the musical heart of Berlin since 1963. Located at the periphery of West Berlin when it opened, it became part of the new urban center after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The unusual tent-like shape and distinctive bright yellow color makes it one of the city’s most beloved landmarks.

The Metropolitan Opera Nightly Opera Stream

During this extraordinary time, the Met hopes to brighten the lives of their audience members even while their stage is dark. The Metropolitan Opera is offering free Nightly Opera Streams on their website – performances that show off opera at its most thrilling, thought-provoking, and uplifting. Each day, a different encore presentation from the company’s Live in HD series is available for free streaming, with each performance available for a period of 23 hours, from 7:30 p.m. EDT until 6:30 p.m. the following day. The schedule will include outstanding complete performances from the past 14 years of cinema transmissions, starring all of opera’s greatest singers.

LACO at Home

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s LACO At Home allows people everywhere to engage and listen to spellbinding performances with “America’s finest chamber orchestra” — no subscription, sign-up, or payment required. We may not be able to gather together to share music in person, but current circumstances will not prevent LACO from providing you with exquisite, enduring, personal musical experiences. LACO is happy to announce that their musicians have generously volunteered to share a wide variety of audio and video options during this time. All broadcasts can be live-streamed and streamed on-demand.

Budapest Festival Quarantine Soirées

Ivan Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra are live streaming nightly chamber concerts in a series they have called Quarantine Soirées. Since Ivan Fischer founded the Budapest Festival Orchestra more than 30 years ago, its inventiveness and the distinct ensemble tone have led to numerous accolades including two Gramophone Awards – the ‘Oscars of classical music’ – and has been nominated for a Grammy. The orchestra’s driving mission is to serve its home audience in over seventy concerts, along with making frequent appearances at alternative venues such as nursing homes, hospitals, and schools, where it can create an intimate connection with the audience.

Vienna State Opera Live Streaming

Vienna State Opera has opened its archives and is offering a different opera available to watch each day for free via its streaming platform. The Vienna State Opera is one of the world’s most important opera houses, offering over 300 performances of more than 60 different operas and ballets per season. The artistic cornerstones of this opera house are the State Opera Orchestra / Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the stage orchestra, the choir, the committed ensemble of singers, and the ballet ensemble.

Detroit Symphony Orchestra Replay Archive

Detroit Symphony Orchestra has made its Replay archive free to all online visitors. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, America’s fourth-oldest, has been at the center of Detroit’s musical heartbeat for more than 130 years. Today, under the direction of renowned Music Director Laureate Leonard Slatkin, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s primary performance venue is Orchestra Hall at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood.
