Las Perlas 2

Mezcal and tequila are often confused with one another, as they’re both Mexican spirits made from agave. However, tequila and mezcal are made from different agaves, produced in different regions, and distilled differently. Essentially, all tequilas are mezcals, but not all mezcals are tequilas. Both spirits utilize a basic method of cooking, fermenting, and distilling agave hearts, but tequila can only be made from blue agave plants. Mezcal, often described as tequila’s smoky-tasting cousin, can be made from any number of agave species, including the blue variety. Now that we’ve piqued your interest, It’s time to round up your crew and discover DTLA’s best craft tequilas and rare mezcals. Salud!
